JobLinks Expands Free Bus Pass Project

JobLinks, Northwest Connecticut’s Access to Jobs program, has expanded its Free Bus Pass project to provide additional assistance to eligible workers who are not served by public transportation.

JobLinks Free Pass project, which provides up to 2 10-ride bus passes, is now available to eligible individuals in the Northwest region looking for employment who fall under the income guidelines. After the 2 10-ride bus passes have been used up and the person becomes employed, he or she will be eligible for up to 6 weeks of free bus passes to help with transportation costs in the early weeks of employment.

Individuals whose monthly household income falls below 150% of the federal poverty level can apply at local One Stop Centers to receive the bus passes. (One Stop Centers are centrally located within the Danbury, Torrington and Waterbury areas.) In addition to meeting income guidelines, individuals must be registered with Department of Labor Career Center. Applications are taken Monday through Wednesday and bus passes are distributed on Thursday and Friday.
