Shore Line East Service Update

New Friday Shore Line East Summer Service Now in Effect

Shore Line East operates additional “Friday Only” trains from Friday, May 23 through Friday, August 29, 2003. A special pre-holiday train will also operate on Thursday, July 3, 2003.

The trains operate as follows:

Eastbound

  • On Thursday, July 3 and Fridays only, an additional Shore Line East train departs from New Haven's Union Station at 2:10PM and State Street Station at 2:12PM and makes all regular stops to Old Saybrook.
  • On Thursday, July 3 and Fridays only, the Shore Line East train that departs from New Haven's Union Station at 7:48PM and State Street Station at 7:50PM makes all regular stops plus an additional stop in New London.
Westbound
  • On Thursday, July 3 and Fridays only, an additional Shore Line East train departs from Old Saybrook at 3:05PM and runs directly to New Haven's Union Station, making no other stops.
  • On Thursday, July 3 and Fridays only, an additional Shore Line East train departs from New London at 9:00PM and make stops in Old Saybrook and New Haven's Union Station.
Note: Additional pre-holiday trains will also operate on Nov. 26, Dec. 24, and Dec. 31, 2003.

Changes to Shore Line East New London Service

As of April 28, 2003, Shore Line East (SLE) service between New London and New Haven has the following changes in both morning and afternoon/evening service:

Morning Changes

  • SLE morning service from New London to New Haven has been replaced by Amtrak trains picking up SLE passengers at 6:35 AM and 7:52 AM and traveling non-stop to New Haven's Union Station. Please note: Amtrak is honoring SLE monthly tickets only. All passengers without any type of SLE monthly ticket must pay the regular Amtrak fare.
  • The SLE train that departs from New Haven's Union Station at 5:05 AM and arrives in New London at 6:18 AM has been discontinued.
Evening Changes
  • 2 of the 3 SLE evening trains traveling from New Haven to New London have been replaced by Amtrak trains picking up SLE passengers at New Haven's Union Station at 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM. Please note: Amtrak is honoring SLE monthly tickets only. All passengers without any type of SLE monthly ticket must pay the regular Amtrak fare.
  • The SLE train that departs from New Haven's Union Station at 6:34 PM will continue to stop in New London.
  • The SLE train that departs from New London at 6:45 PM and arrives at New Haven's Union Station at 7:45 PM has been discontinued.
  • The SLE train that departs from New London at 7:50 PM and arrives at New Haven's Union Station at 8:45 PM will continue to run.
