Employers Benefit from Customized Solutions to Commuting Challenges

Summer Weekends: No Lane Closures on I-95 Between Exit 51 and Exit 54
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that during summer weekends, no ramp or lane closures are planned on I-95 Northbound and I-95 Southbound between Exit 51 and Exit 54 from 12:01PM on Fridays through 12:01AM on Mondays. The summer schedule started on Memorial Day (Friday, May 23, 2003) and is in effect through Labor Day (Monday, September 1, 2003). The number of lanes available on I-95 during these hours will not be reduced.


JobLinks Launches New Website To Enhances Availability of Job Access Information in Northwest Connecticut

JobLinks, Northwest Connecticut’s Access to Jobs program, has just launched a new website. One Stop Centers and eligible workers in the Danbury, Waterbury and Torrington areas now have access to information on routes, schedules and programs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at www.joblinksct.com. Users can even submit questions via email.


Amtrak Offers Expanded Weekday Service Between New Haven and Springfield

Good news for commuters: On Mondays through Fridays, Amtrak service is available between New Haven and Springfield, with all trains stopping in Hartford; some trains make intermediary stops in Wallingford, Meriden, Berlin, Windsor and Windsor Locks. (One-way fares range from $5 to $24.)

Shore Line East operates additional “Friday Only” trains from Friday, May 23 through Friday, August 29, 2003. A special pre-holiday train will also operate on Thursday, July 3, 2003.
