Commuter Connection
shuttles provide seamless transit service coordinating trains with buses,
with each service departure depending upon the arrival of the other.
On March 10, 2003,
CTTransit’s
New Haven Commuter Connection Shuttle buses that service Shore Line
East Rail passengers made the following changes:
- The Downtown
bus route is now one route that meets all trains and is no longer
split into two separate north and south routes.
-
In
the afternoon and evening: Commuter Connection service will bring
passengers to New Haven's Union Station only (not to State Street
Station). Shuttle buses begin their loop through downtown New Haven
and the Sargent Drive/Long Wharf area approximately 20 minutes before
Shore Line East departure times. Commuter Connection passengers arrive
at New Haven's Union Station about five minutes before Shore Line
East departure times.
The following
services remain the same:
- In the
morning: New Haven Commuter Connection service operates from State
Street Station only. Commuter Connection shuttle buses wait for Shore
Line East trains to arrive at New Haven's State Street Station. A
few minutes after each train arrives, the buses leave from right in
front of the station and loop through downtown New Haven and the Sargent
Drive/Long Wharf area.
- The CTTransit
local J Route and the Temple Street Parking Garage shuttle continue
to operate from New Haven's Union Station.
- The last Commuter
Connection bus becomes the last Shore Line East run (which departs
New Haven’s Union Station at 8:42 p.m. and makes stops between
Branford and Old Saybrook).
