Update on I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing Corridor Improvement Program
Acting State Transportation Commissioner James F. Byrnes recently announced the award of Contract D, the first phase of the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing Corridor Improvement Program intended to improve I-95 roadway conditions between New Haven and Branford. Contract D encompasses the reconstruction of I-95 between the Lake Saltonstall Bridge and Exit 54 in Branford. Contract D, valued at $35.7 million, was awarded by the Connecticut Department of Transportation to the Middlesex Corp. of Bristol, Connecticut. Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2002 and will take approximately 1½ years to complete. Work includes the following:

In addition to hearing updated details about each phase of the program, callers can access information on lane closures/traffic detours related to the program as well as other area construction projects and can leave messages that will be answered by program staff. The Overview Brochure outlining the purpose and phases of the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing Corridor Improvement Program is now available in Spanish. Copies will be distributed to select locations in the New Haven and Shoreline areas.
