Contest Rules

1. All entries must communicate the goal of RIDEWORKS, which is to get people to commute to work any way except by driving alone as a way to reduce air pollution and traffic congestion.

2. The contest is free and open to all students grades 3 through 8 in the 38 towns served by RIDEWORKS.

3. Entries must encourage an alternative (either real or imaginary) to driving alone.

4. Entry submissions must be original ideas—no imitations of popular songs, artwork or words.

5. Only one entry per student may be submitted.

6. Entries must be received no later than Monday, March 5, 2001.

7. Entry location is the main library in each participating town. Entries may also be mailed or delivered to RIDEWORKS, 389 Whitney Avenue, New Haven, CT 06511. Paper submissions must be flat or rolled—not folded.

8. All entries become the property of RIDEWORKS, and may be reproduced on the RIDEWORKS Calendar of Children's Environmental Expressions For The Year 2002 and/or other promotional materials.

9. Winners will submit a school photograph. If not possible, other arrangements will be made. Photographs may be used for promotional purposes.

10. Group entries are eligible. If selected as winner, it is the group's responsibility to divide the prize. Only one prize will be awarded in each group category.

11. Decisions of the judges are final.

12. One overall bonus prize of a class trip will be randomly selected at the awards presentation. Winner must be present to win.
